What Does The Tattoo On John Wicks Back Say?

What Does The Tattoo On John Wicks Back Say
John’s tattoo reads, ‘Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat,’ or ‘fortune favors the brave’ in Latin. This is also a lose translation of the motto of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines — although their spelling is ‘Fortes Fortuna Juvat. ‘ This is common enough that it’s not conclusive evidence alone, but it’s definitely a starting point.

Does the tattoo on John Wicks back mean?

The 2019 Update – SPOILER ALERT! – “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” had its highs and lows. I was surprised how all three of my predictions about John Wick’s tattoo kind of came true. The prediction that the tattoo referred to “The Strong Ones” rather than just one strong person was right on the nose.

  1. It’s revealed that John Wick was originally from Belarus and a former protégé of The Director;
  2. John’s background does explain the gun-fu scenes in the much-anticipated franchise, with fight sequences mimicking a kind of ballet — bathed in blood, of course;

We get a scene where another of The Director’s recruits – a ballerina femme fatale – shares the same back tattoo as John Wick. Image from Lionsgate It’s highly likely that not all assassins in John Wick have this tattoo, but there’s a probability that all of the assassins trained by The Director have it. We might see this in the fourth installment of the series or in the rumored spin-off focusing on the ballerina herself. Next, we talked about how Winston’s actions in the second movie could be what saves his life. He survives his actions, but just not in the way we expected.

John was offered the chance to have his excommunicated status removed and his transgressions forgiven if he killed Winston, something he ultimately refused to do. With his debt paid, however, Winston had no guilt shooting John off the roof of the Continental to prove his fealty to the High Table.

We also mentioned how John Wick’s safety may not be assured until he manages to kill the entire High Table. He didn’t get to do this in “Parabellum , ” but at the end of the movie after getting shot off the roof of the Continental, he’s saved and taken to the Bowery King.

  1. Earlier in the movie, the Bowery King (and Winston) were forced to resign their positions in the underworld as punishment for helping John;
  2. The Bowery King refused to abdicate, so as punishment was sliced seven times by a ninja hired by The Adjudicator;

He survived, but now it’s clear that both he and John Wick have an axe to grind with the High Table. Could this be the start of the war between John Wick and the Bowery King’s network versus the High Table? We’ll just have to wait and see in “John Wick 4: Resurrection.

Are Keanu Reeves tattoos real in John Wick?

Did Keanu Reeves get tattoos for his role in ‘John Wick’? – Reeves went all-in in order to portray the character of John Wick. The actor studied for months to prepare for John Wick  and even went to an intense boot camp to get in character, learning jiu-jitsu and judo.

  1. One thing that Reeves did not do, however, is get tatted;
  2. On-screen, John Wick is covered in a variety of symbolic tattoos, including a face covered in flames, a wolf, and lettering across his back;
  3. However, according to Distractify , Reeves himself has no recorded tattoos;

While Reeves has sat in the makeup chair many times over the years to have fake tattoos applied, his own skin remains free of tattoos. The actor has never opened up about why he prefers to steer clear of tattoos — but it can likely be chalked up to personal preference.

What does John Wick have tattooed on his shoulders?

One of the most prevalent tattoos on Wick’s body is the phrase ‘ fortis Fortuna adiuvat,’ inked across his shoulders just above the prayer hands and cross.

What does Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat?

Do you really need to be that “ballsy” to achieve something big? – Kyoto, first day of 2019. People were praying for “Good Luck” for this year. Lately I’ve been into Latin proverbs. Often written in short, fancy words, they have deep meanings that may lead to many interpretations depends on how we perceive it. My favorites amongst many are Per Aspera ad Astra (Through hardships to the stars) and Illegitimi non carborundum (Don’t let the bastards grind you down.

  1. ) But recently, there is this one quote that can’t just seem get out of my head;
  2. It’s an exceptional quote with deeper meaning ready to unfold;
  3. It’s Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat , which means “Fortunes Favors the Bold;

” Let’s talk a bit about the quote itself. Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat; Fortunes Favors the Bold. One of the most known of its earlier use is when Terence , a Roman playwright used it in his comedy play called Phormio. Later on, the quote itself made famous by the United States as the motto of notable US Navy ships and Trumbull College of Yale U.

The way I see it, this proverb means that fortune or luck will come to those who are willing to be bold. Meanwhile being bold may be defined as taking action without hesitation (well, at least on a minimum.

) I see this quote as a motivation to be brave and daring on making decisions as we go, because if we stay put and don’t do anything there will be no luck for us. In fact, luck itself is a probability. We say “good luck” as we perceive it as a positive note to what would happen next, and vice versa.

There is no real certainty on whether we will have a good or bad luck. Your action and luck is something different yet inseparable. There are things to do that may improve your probability on getting the result you wanted, but others may decrease it.

For example, the probability of a basketball shooter taking shot under the ring with closer and clearer look will have better probability for the ball to go in to the basket than if he has to shoot from the three-point line. But yet again, you will have zero luck if you don’t shoot at all.

  • Even if you take your shot under the best of circumstances, it will still have the probability of not going in by a fraction;
  • In the end, fortune is something that even the best of skills cannot interfere but there will be no fortune if there is no action towards it;

So… No, Fortune does not favors the bold. It does — on a certain point — favors those who calculated their chances but nevertheless one definite thing about fortune that it is indefinite. Yeah, you may have done a thorough analysis on how you will act on something and boldly believes that you will attain good luck upon it.

Or you just simply trust your gut. And the result turns out to be something you did not expect to be, at all. Alas, you should not stop on shooting your shot. But maybe… Just not at this moment. Give yourself a break, and try to recuperate.

Better luck next time..

Why did John Wick cut his finger off?

Lionsgate WARNING: This article contains spoilers for John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum. Whether or not you think modern day action movies are just too long , it’s difficult to ignore how good John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum is. (Not to mention how good star Keanu Reeves is in it. ) As much fun as it is to see the “retired” assassin blast, stab, kick and punch his way through a seemingly endless array of bad guys and girls, however, surprise franchise’s latest entry does something rather shocking to its hero in the second act.

What’s more, Reeves and director Chad Stahelski had to fight the studio for it. About midway through the film, Wick seeks the aide of The Elder (Saïd Taghmaoui), a ranking member of the High Table. In order to prove how committed he will be to him, the hero slices off the ring finger on his left hand and gives his wedding ring to him.

As Stahelski explained to The Hollywood Reporter , the studio balked at this — largely because of its potential financial costs on the production: “No one creatively saw a problem with it, but it comes down to a simple matter of financials. Without giving away the spoiler, you saw it; you know what he does.

That’s on his lead hand. You have a left-handed actor who’s just deformed his left hand and that left hand is in every shot of the third act of the movie. VFX wise, there’s a cost associated with that. There’s logistical problems and practical filming that are associated with that.

The studio does their job of questioning my visions and my methods to see if I really like it. ” Despite the studio’s issues with the scene, Stahelski and Reeves “felt very strongly about [it] being an emotional trigger and incredibly symbolic of what he’s giving up at that moment in that scene.

” They were also “willing to [make] sacrifices in other areas to preserve the funds to make that come to fruition. ” As a result, the filmmaker and the actor were able to keep the shocking scene in the movie, though not without cutting back on other aspects of the production.

As for what those cuts were, Stahelski didn’t say. (Via The Hollywood Reporter ).

What does Baba Yaga mean in John Wick?

The Russian Witch Named Baba Yaga – Baba Yaga is not the boogeyman at all, she is a different being altogether. In Russian folklore, she is a witch who lives in a disheveled home that stands on chicken legs. Similar to the Brothers Grimm tale of the witch in Hansel And Gretel   (1812), Baba Yaga lures children into her home to devour them. She surrounds her home with the human remains of her victims.

  • Baba Yaga has been mythologized as living in this world and the next, making her a nightmarish figure that appears whenever she deems necessary, like John Wick;
  • If John Wick’s nickname was truly referential to the boogeyman, he would be called a Babay;

The term translates to ” a boogeyman, ” not a particular individual but one of many. Surely, John Wick is a deadly assassin feared by many, but he is not the only one. Therefore, Babay is much more fitting for his character over Baba Yaga. He does not share a single similarity with the Russian mythic witch, he is not malevolent nor does he seek to harm the innocent.

On the contrary, he wants revenge on those who have done wrong. Unfortunately, it is a bit too late to go back and change this crucial piece of John Wick’s identity to better suit his characterization. Perhaps there is more to his story than viewers know, as  John Wick 4  is slated for release in 2022 , so fans could see a whole new side to John Wick.

Until then, the use of Baba Yaga in the John Wick franchise is confusing and a bit unnerving if his character is based primarily on his nickname. How much are gold coins worth in John Wick?

The mercenaries of the John Wick universe use their old gold coin currency, but how much is each piece worth in the Keanu Reeves movie franchise? How do the gold coins work in  John Wick , and what’s their true value? For an action franchise, the mythology of the  John Wick universe is surprisingly intricate, with Keanu Reeves ‘ character existing inside a vast fictional world of secretive mercenaries, shadowy syndicates and violent traditions.

The network of operatives involved in the operation is surprisingly widespread, with body removers, doctors, hotel concierges and tailors all offering the services to Wick and his colleagues. As part of their culture, however, the mercenaries do not pay these associates with regular money.

Instead, the entire mercenary world uses its own currency of gold coins to purchase everything from hotel rooms to new weapons. These gold coins are heavily present throughout the trio of  John Wick movies so far, with each of the Continental’s guests earning coins by executing contracts and then spending them within the same community.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum  reveals how these coins come to be in circulation, with Jerome Flynn’s Berrada responsible for producing the medallions in Casablanca. The real curiosity in John Wick’s economy, however, is how mostly everything seems to cost only a few coins.

From cleaning up a bloodbath to ordering a drink , spending coins seems to be a fairly level playing field in  John Wick ‘s mythology, with no discernible exchange rate. How does their system work? In the real world, the paper and metal used for cash or the digital ones and zeroes of a bank transaction have no intrinsic value.

The fun twist of  John Wick  money is that the coins are smelted with real gold, making each piece worth a tidy sum at banks that don’t accept deadly mercenaries as clients. Based on the approximate size of each coin and the current price of gold, each piece would be worth just north of $2000 in proper money, but this isn’t where the true value lies in  John Wick ‘s currency.

The worth of the Continental’s gold coins comes in the social contract they represent, as alluded to by Berrada. The coin offers an assurance of service – the trust, secrecy and honor at the core of the mercenary code. Essentially, whenever a person presents a coin, they ensure that whatever service they receive comes with the High Table’s promise of safety and security – the kind of promise regular money can’t buy. As for the nonsensical exchange rate, it could be argued that all services available in John’s line of work come with a similar amount of risk, even for the humble bartender, meaning prices are high whatever the service. Perhaps the most appropriate way of viewing these coins, therefore, isn’t as a monetary exchange but as the promise of a favor. A doctor does John Wick a service by patching him up and receives a coin, he can then buy a favor from someone else, and so forth.

  • This is an extension of the blood pact “markers” in  John Wick , which differ by being exclusive between two people and impossible to refuse;
  • Muddying the waters somewhat is how the High Table’s contracts (the one on John’s own life, for example) are presented with a value in U;

dollars. This could simply be a narrative technique to demonstrate to the audience just how much the bad guys hate John Wick, but it might also prove that  some kind of mathematical exchange rate does exist between gold coins and regular currency. The fact that mercenaries are presumably able to buy gas and groceries at their local store also supports the idea that exchanging gold coins for regular cash must happen.

Some have suggested that the dollar value on hit contracts might allude to a hierarchy system, whereby one coin from John Wick, for instance, is worth more than one from Dave, the Continental ‘s new intern.

Whatever the nature of the coins from the  John Wick movies, this mystical, unfathomable currency helps create a world that continues to fascinate and thrill. More:  John Wick: What Baba Yaga Really Means

What is the tattoo on Constantine’s arm?

The character of John Constantine was originally created by Alan Moore, during his run on DC Comics’ “Swamp Thing”. However, following his negative experience with From Hell (2001) and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), Moore decided to reject all money and credit from Hollywood on any adaptations of his work.

Thus, he gave all the money he would’ve gotten to the artist who drew the character with him, and rejected his own “created by” credit from the film. The look of Hell was based on old footage of nuclear tests, specifically the sudden shockwave immediately after the blast that disintegrated anything in its path, hence the crumbling landscape.

According to an interview with The A. Club published on 28th August 2017, Peter Stormare came up with his own costume design for the appearance of Lucifer; the off-white linen suit with tar dripping down from his feet are specifically mentioned. The producer and director had initially wanted “leather trousers, bare-chested.

a dog collar with spikes” and tattoos over Stormare’s face and chest. The “Spear of Destiny” prop is the same one as used in Hellboy (2004). Keanu Reeves bought the Holy Shotgun prop, and gave it to director Francis Lawrence as a gift.

(at around 40 mins) According to the director’s commentary on the DVD, the rag that Constantine lights on fire to defeat the flying demons is a piece of Moses’ shroud, given to him by Beeman. (at around 1h 2 mins) Constantine’s line in which he says that he doesn’t want Angela to be another ghost following him around is a reference to the comics, where he is haunted by the ghosts of friends who have died because of him.

  1. The original title, Hellblazer, was changed because it was too similar to Hellboy (2004);
  2. The films were scheduled to be released within a short space of time between them, and it was decided that having such similar titles would hurt the sales of tickets;

Therefore Hellblazer was changed to Constantine. (at around 5 mins) When the possessed girl crawls on the ceiling early in the film she says, “Papatayin natin sila!” This is a Tagalog (Filipino) phrase meaning “We’ll kill them all!” (at around 1 min) The Nazi flag used to wrap the Spear of Destiny was destroyed after shooting, to prevent it from falling into the hands of Neo-Nazis.

The tattoo on Constantine’s arms is the alchemical symbol of the Red King, which was worn (by him) for protection. It is “the fire triangle with three radiating arrows below represents the ‘Perfect Red King,’ the Sulfur of the Philosophers.

” Ravenscar Hospital is named for a mental institution that features in the Hellblazer comic book series. John Constantine spent four years in and out of Ravenscar, after he had a nervous breakdown, due to a botched exorcism. The “Holy Hand Grenades” were actually Christmas ornaments filled with water.

(at around 1h 13 mins) According to the director’s commentary on the DVD, Constantine’s brass knuckles are made from gold that was blessed by a Bishop during the Crusades. Originally, Tarsem Singh was attached to direct, with Nicolas Cage to star.

However, the director said that “with Cage, I cannot make the film I had wanted to. ” Soon after Singh left the picture, Cage did as well. (at around 40 mins) There is a scene where Constantine wraps his hands in a cloth, and lights it, to send the demons attacking Dodson back to Hell.

  1. The cloth is seen prior briefly and without explanation when Beeman is unloading his bag (at around 19 mins);
  2. This cloth was a piece of the burial shroud of Moses;
  3. Beeman’s explanation of the cloth when he presented it to Constantine was cut from the film;

The lighter Constantine uses during the movie was created as a real lighter by Zippo lighter company depicting St. Benedict around the case. The Spear of Destiny is also known as the Spear of Longinus. Longinus was the name of the Centurion who used the Spear to pierce Christ’s side during the crucifixion.

Aside from John Constantine, the only characters to survive the transition from comic to film are Ellie (a demoness mostly cut from the original theatrical release), Papa Midnite, Chas Kramer, and Gabriel.

All of the other characters were invented for the film. In the comic book “Hellblazer”, on which the film is based, the character of John Constantine is from Liverpool, England, and is drawn to look like the singer Sting. In the film, the character is from Los Angeles, California, USA.

  1. It is widely believed that the change was made specifically for Keanu Reeves;
  2. The truth is, the original script retained his nationality, but got no response from producers;
  3. So the writer changed him to an American, and the script quickly gained attention;

Beside being addicted to smoking cigarettes, Constantine is seen drinking “Ardbeg” – an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, with a powerful smokey flavor. During the course of the film, John Constantine is seen smoking thirteen cigarettes, generally regarded to be an unlucky number.

  1. (at around 4 mins) When John meets Hennesy for the first time, there is a television with a cartoon playing;
  2. At the end of the conversation, as John goes to exorcise the demon from the little girl, he leaves the room and shuts the door;

The cartoon in the movie shows a cloud of smoke shutting a door at the exact same time as John leaves and shuts the door. The original script had Hell depicted as a black void with a floor covered in oil. The Spear of Destiny has been featured in many DC titles, such as The Spectre.

Ironically though, it has never been prominently featured in the Hellblazer series this movie was based on. Director Francis Lawrence stuck to his guts on the project, not wanting to succumb to the temptation to pull a love story out of a very dark film.

Rachel Weisz admitted that she wanted to get kissed by Keanu Reeves and there were a couple of times where it seemed that a kiss was going to happen, but they never did. She explained “No, we didn’t [shoot a kiss scene]. Because we thought if we did, they would use it.

  • You know, someone would get their hands on it, so we made sure, we didn’t want there to be a kiss;
  • She went on to say that the movie is pretty intense all the way through, and she really liked shooting the long scene on the rooftop: “It just, like, had a little noir feeling to it;

I thought that finally I was going to get kissed, but it was not to be. ” The cigarettes that Constantine smokes in the movie are not real Chinese-made cigarettes. The name means “Yangtse River” and the package was a special design for the film. Shia LaBeouf was recommended to producer Akiva Goldsman for the role of Chas by Will Smith following his impressive performance in I, Robot (2004).

The three of them worked in that film, with Smith and Goldsman as producers. (at around 47 mins) In the lower right-hand corner of Isabel’s toe tag, there’s the number 616. While some people interpret the Mark of the Beast to be 666, others interpret it to be 616, hence its appearance on the toe tag.

In the Book of the Revelation, the Number of the Beast is “six hundred, threescore, and six. ” (666) (at around 4 mins) At the beginning of the scene where Constantine exorcises the demon from the young girl, there is a close-up of Constantine placing his lit cigarette on the side of a table.

  1. However, the director did not have a lens that could focus that tightly, so they created a fake cigarette the size of a cigar, and shot it from a greater distance, creating the illusion of a normal cigarette;

The Spear of Destiny shown in the film is a fairly accurate facsimile of the historical artefact known as the “Holy Lance”. For centuries, the Holy Lance was believed to be the spear which killed Jesus on the cross, but in shape and style it is a fairly typical Carolingian winged lance; furthermore, a centurion standing guard at a crucifixion wouldn’t have been carrying a cavalry lance (which is too long for easy use on foot), but instead the standard Roman infantry spear or javelin called a pilum.

  1. The Carolingian dynasty was a Frankish dynasty which ruled areas of France from the 7th Century; in other words, at least six centuries too late for the time of Jesus;
  2. The Lance was kept in collections of religious artefacts held by various empires and dynasties for several hundred years until it was acquired by the Nazis, hidden away during World War II, and almost lost to the world;

It was recovered in 1945 and is now kept in a museum collection in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. Scientific tests have shown that both the Holy Lance itself and the nail embedded in its tip are made from metal which actually dates to a period between the 8th and the 9th centuries, thus proving conclusively that, like most so-called “holy” relics from the medieval era, it’s a fake.

  • In a deleted scene, Angela is looking over Constantine’s arrest and booking report;
  • It lists his date of birth to be 09;
  • 02;
  • 66, (or September 2, 1966), his height at 6-1 (or six feet, one inch), weight of 180 (pounds), hair color as Blk (Black), eyes as Brn (Brown), complexion as Fair, marital status of Single, and U;

citizenship. The report details that he was pulled over for a broken taillight, and upon search of the car, gun parts were found, along with a Bible, Catholic cross, and some type of water bottle. Ultimately, it was determined there was “insufficient evidence to prosecute”.

  1. (at around 54 mins) On the side walls of Beeman’s bowling alley there is a logo of three balls each having a line that juts off from them, looking more like 666 than anything;
  2. This can be seen at the beginning of the scene where Beeman discovers the truth to the demons trying to pass over;

Rachel Weisz went to the morgue as a part of the research into her character. On the movie’s local premiere at Bergen Cinema, Norway, it had 666 visitors. Director Francis Lawrence didn’t want the wings to look like typical white angel wings, but rather dark bird wings.

  1. Stan Winston Studio created feathered mechanical wings and ESC generated the wings in CGI;
  2. Ve Neill, the Stan Winston crew provided dentures, contact lenses and full-body airbrush painting;
  3. The crew also built an articulated head-and-shoulders dummy of the unconscious girl for a brief cut in which the scavenger demon within pushes through her skin;

SWS mechanics gave the puppet nostril movement, an internal ‘breathing’ device, and mechanical eye twitching beneath her closed eyelids. Joey Orosco sculpted a prosthetic makeup for actress Barbara Pilavin. Forensic photos of a three-week-old corpse were used for reference.

  1. The original script had the opening in Istanbul, Turkey, but had to be changed to the present location because of budget constraints;
  2. Reunites Keanu Reeves with Rachel Weisz after Chain Reaction (1996);
  3. Peter Stormare originally auditioned for the role of Balthazar;

(at around 1h 1 min) The man holding the Spear of Destiny walks by a billboard in the background that says “got faith?” with a water faucet that pours water into wine in a wineglass, mimicking the “got milk?” advertisements. (at around 28 mins) Surreal paintings by 16th century artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo inspired the look of ‘Vermin Man.

  1. ‘ Arcimboldo’s work depicted characters formed entirely out of fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish and books; ‘Vermin Man’ was made up of snakes, rats, crabs and about 20 different types of insects;
  2. Real bugs, worms and snakes were molded, cast in clay and then added to the sculpture;

The score credit in the film was originally only Brian Tyler, but Klaus Badelt was brought in by producers late in post-production to help enhance the comedic aspects of the film. Tyler and Badelt share a dual credit in composing the score. The Spear of Destiny is a plot point in the second season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (2016); in a crossover with Constantine (2014), the John Constantine character appears in season three, and Matt Ryan signed on to reprise the role in season four as a series regular.

  1. Warner Brothers Studios utilized Supernatural/Occult/Paranormal expert Christopher Chacon, one of the world’s foremost authorities on witchcraft, sorcery, magick, the supernatural, ,and the occult, to publicize and promote the movie’s release;

Having dealt with thousands of cases of supernatural phenomena around the world, from possessions to black magic curses, Chacon reportedly has the world’s largest collection of authentic occult artifacts, antiquities and ancient supernatural paraphernalia.

The shape of the swimming pool in the mental hospital is a cross and reflects the one on the side of the building, as seen through the skylight. Stan Winston Studio concept artist Aaron Sims designed both the scavenger and the seplavite demons in the computer.

The designs were then realized in the real world as computer-milled sculptures. Although the flying seplavite would be brought to life via CGI, the scavenger demon was a fully articulated puppet with radio-controlled face, jaw mechanisms and cable-controlled fingers, operated on set by six puppeteers.

(at around 1h 30 mins) When John states that “the wicked shall inherit the earth,” it is a reference to the Beatitudes from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

” A number of prosthetic makeups were created for the film. In the prologue, the drifter who finds an ancient relic wears a subtle transformation makeup. The possessed young girl wore a gelatin prosthetic. The Stan Winston crew created a two-stage silicone prosthetic makeup for the scene in which the face of the half-breed demon, Balthazar (Gavin Rossdale) dissolves upon contact with holy water.

Stage one included torn skin revealing underlying areas of demon flesh; stage two was a more extensive makeup with overlapping teeth and a shriveled left eye. A full-scale (five-foot-ten-inch) Mammon puppet was fitted with a smile mechanism and an articulated rod-puppet armature.

Tippett Studio used photographs and cyberscans of the puppet to create a digital version of the character. Mel Gibson and Kevin Spacey were considered to star as John Constantine. Although the flying seplavite would be brought to life via CGI, the scavenger demon was a fully articulated puppet with radio-controlled face, jaw mechanisms and cable-controlled fingers, operated on set by six puppeteers.

Constantine (Keanu Reeves) interacts with many different types of Hell’s inhabitants. To achieve the desired visual style, these demons had to seem to exist for real. The inspiration for the design of many of these characters, including the scavenger and seplavite demons, came from the art world and real-life autopsy photographs instead of relying on typical medieval-era depictions of demons.

Stan Winston Studio concept artist Aaron Sims designed both the scavenger and the seplavite demons in the computer. The designs were then realized in the real world as computer-milled sculptures. The film is included on the film critic Roger Ebert’s “Most Hated” list.

Another demon appearing in the film is ‘Vermin Man. ‘ Although this creature would eventually be animated digitally, the filmmakers wanted to shoot a physical character on set, which Stan Winston’s crew realized as a Vermin Man mask and suit. There are two police cars with the number 274 in the scene with the EZ Mart.

  • Crucifixion was a prolonged and brutal death, in which the position of the arms along the cross-piece made breathing difficult;
  • The crucified victim would push up with his legs to relieve the strain on his arms, then when he became exhausted, he would collapse again and his breathing would once again become difficult;

This is why many depictions of crucifixion show the victims with bent legs, having collapsed. At the start of the movie you can see a painting of the Crucifixion in which a soldier has used the spear, but there is also a man holding a long stick with a round end – this was used to break the victims legs so that they could no longer push upwards, and so expired.
