How much does it cost to pierce your cartilage?
Cartilage piercing prices – Other cartilage piercings besides the ones mentioned— the auricle piercing , the anti-tragus piercing , the snug piercing , and the conch piercing —all cost around the same. When you get a cartilage piercing, you need to keep in mind that the cartilage is quite brittle and easily damaged; you want to make sure that you’re paying for a piercer who knows what they’re doing.

$95 + tip Freehand piercing |
||||||||||||||||
Leslie is my piercer,she’s a rockstar. She’s very gentle. The piercings were a breeze, there was no discomfort, I have a total of 30 plus and I will be going back for more! |
||||||||||||||||
No pain! Super fast and the lady was so friendly |
||||||||||||||||
I actually got them done in 2 different places. Ear Lobe I got it done for 10 dollars only on both sides. They used a gun on me. I clean them with rubbing alcohol, make sure to stay consistent because I got infected. The second piercing is helix but only on one side of the ear. Wasn’t painful at all just a tear using a needle and that’s about it.
Many of the places use a gun so I recommend if they use a gun don’t go there. Even if it’s cheaper. If they recommend a lotion or some kind of ointment to buy for your newly pierced ears, I don’t think it’s really necessary. Just buy some sea salt and stir it in water then place your ear in the water for approximately 10-15 mins. |
||||||||||||||||
Didn’t hurt! Did it my self, just know where to pierce it and watch out for cartilage. High recommended!! |
||||||||||||||||
I did all my piercings myself. I started when I was 12. Now I am 54. It did not hurt. All are healed within 3 weeks. They all look great. |
||||||||||||||||
Barely hurts and just make sure if you do it yourself to over-sanitize everything you use no matter how clean you think it is. Bacteria leads to infections and it can be painful if that develops |
||||||||||||||||
Got a third hole in each earlobe from Purity Body Arts in New Orleans. Each piercing was $30 plus the price of jewelry (two studs: a 14 carat gold stud and an opal set 14 carat gold setting). Pristine setting, excellent quality control. Monique is the nicest piercer ever. But that place is $$$ |
||||||||||||||||
My ear actually bled onto my shirt and it ended up ripping out the front hole after the 6 month healing time. But the rip didn’t hurt and the piercing didn’t hurt. I want to get it redone. |
||||||||||||||||
Got it done on Friday the 13th so it was like buy one piercing get the other free (aka both nipples for the price of one $40). Worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I actually passed out. The more stressed out you are, the worse it will hurt bc the adrenaline pumping. Try to relax yourself. They’re all healed up now and I absolutely love them! Worth it. |
||||||||||||||||
Ear lobe piercings at Claire’s normal priced normal quality for a Claire’s. Then an upper lobe piercing done at Walmart for their normal price. 2 helixs from the place I now regularly visit for $10 when the piercer was in training. A 3rd helix on my right ear for $20 when it was half priced. A nostril stud for $40. Then a ring for $40 and a 2nd ring for $40. Just clean your ear 2x a time to avoid any infection. This area can get infected easily. Then I messed up went to a new place got a lip piercing for $43 that was crooked and had to take it out to get it redone in the near future. These prices don’t include tips. |
||||||||||||||||
Didn’t hurt at all quick and easy |
||||||||||||||||
The inward hole hurts and am currently trying to clear the bump with sea salt mixed with chamomile. I am finally able to change the Jewelry after 8 weeks 😀 |
||||||||||||||||
Seriously hurt so little that after she did it I had to ask if she had done it yet! Lol |
||||||||||||||||
Inkadelphia Tattoo Studio is the best and very affordable. Right now they have a special on navel piercings and they do these specials quite often $10 for a navel piercing normally $20 any surface piercing is $40,Dermal anchors are $60 each but if getting more then 1 we drop the price to $50 (The more you get the less they are)isnt that great!septum piercings cost up to $50 but can also be less. |
||||||||||||||||
I got 3 dermals underneath my left collarbone, the first two were fine, just a lot of pressure but the third hurt a lot because it pushed against my collarbone. It was fast, maybe 15 min but everything was sterilized. I love them |
||||||||||||||||
I was nervous because who wants a 14 guage needle going through your skin? Hollow tube hurt so much that the pain was terrible. Definitely worth it though. |
||||||||||||||||
Got my septum pierced at Sadu Body Modifications in Charlotte. It was a great experience. Great starilization and the piercing didnt hurt at all! Even the healing process isn’t terrible. |
||||||||||||||||
Piercing barely hurt, just pinched a bit, but then I almost fainted? lol. Had some healing complications involving lip growing over the backs, but that stopped once they completely healed almost a year later. Also developed what seems like a permanent boil / skin infection on left side. Tried different cleaning methods, nothing works. |
||||||||||||||||
Didn’t hurt, only thing was the surprise of the needle because I hate them. Didn’t heal very fast because my boyfriend liked to play with it with his tongue which kept causing infections. But it healed in about 7 months. I was 15 and my friend was there recording it. |
||||||||||||||||
The part that freaked me out the most was the clamp. I was prepared for the pain from the needle just didn’t factor in that there would a clamp pinching my skin. But I got over that quick when the needle pierced through, it was very painful, but didn’t last too long. The next part, when she pulled the jewelry through the hole, I wouldn’t exactly call painful just felt really weird.
Make sure you get aftercare instructions because I found those very helpful especially in keeping myself calm about it not being infected. The piercing so far has acted pretty normal, it’s had it ups and downs and is still healing, which is something I knew going in that it has the longest healing period. |
||||||||||||||||
It was 25 for my helix and 50 for an industrial. I went to Whatever Tattoo on St. Marks Pl. |
||||||||||||||||
Did it myself. Screw you dummies paying top price for a piercing. Just buy a kit on ebay. It’ll save you hundreds. Just know your precautions. |
||||||||||||||||
I got both nipples done. There 50$ a piece and came with a sea salt spray |
||||||||||||||||
it hurted a lil but not too m uch |
||||||||||||||||
Fast healing and painless |
||||||||||||||||
It was painless the clamps hurt worse than the actual needle. But the clamps didn’t hurt that much either, but it did hurt to sleep on my left side for about a week. |
||||||||||||||||
Got my nose pierced 7 weeks ago at Planet ink in Canton. A lot of pressure when the needle went in but very little pain after. Piercer was awesome and very professional. Will go back!! |
||||||||||||||||
Highest quality jewelry manufactured for surface bars. Pretty high on the pain scale. |
||||||||||||||||
Didn’t hurt sore a little afterward |
||||||||||||||||
Was very professional going back to get more |
||||||||||||||||
I got my nose pierced with a small gemstone titanium jewelry at Krazy kats last August. The piercer was excellent and it didn’t really hurt, only bled for a few minutes. She gave me great aftercare instruction. I got it for more than a year ago and have changed the jewelries a couple of times since then. |
||||||||||||||||
The clamp was annoying so it took away concentration of the tiny sting of the needle. I had just turned 15 at the the time and I’ve had it for almost a year and it has healed fast and never given me any trouble. The only pain was when the piercer threaded the jewelry through. I plan to get dual microdermals in my hips next 😜😜 |

The cost of ear-piercing at Claire’s can be free, provided the studs are purchased from the piercer. Whether considering a first piercing or a subsequent one, we must consider several factors. So, what are some of the essential cost factors when it comes to ear-piercing?.
How much do cartilage earrings cost?
The Cost – Ear cartilage piercings, like the helix piercing, range in cost from as low as $40 and up to $80 or more. The cost is based on factors like the shop’s price range, the quality of the cartilage jewelry , and the type of piercing. .
How painful is a cartilage piercing?
The cartilage is thicker in this area, which means there will be more resistance when this skin is pierced. Expect a dull pain that measures around a 5/10 on the pain scale. It should take around 6-9 months for the piercing to fully heal.
Do cartilage piercings bleed a lot?
Impact of Cartilage Piercings on Your Health – Like any piercing, a cartilage piercing needs to be cared for correctly or it can cause health problems. All piercings are technically wounds. They need proper wound care to heal without complications. A well-done cartilage piercing will be slightly sore to the touch.
It will likely itch and ooze clear or white-yellow fluid that crusts on your jewelry. You may also notice minor bleeding and bruising or redness around the piercing. These are normal and will go away as the cartilage piercing heals.
Infection. Not every cartilage piercing is done well, unfortunately. Your piercing may get infected if it is done poorly or without unclean tools. An infected cartilage piercing will hurt and can ooze a thick or smelly discharge that’s gray, yellow, or green.
The pierced area may feel hot to the touch. It may also turn bright red or pink. Bad infections may even cause a fever, chills, and nausea. Talk to your doctor right away if you experience any of these symptoms.
Keloid scar. Whether or not your cartilage piercing gets infected, you may also develop a keloid around the area. A keloid is a type of raised scar tissue that looks like a bump around the hole. Some keloids can be caused by infection. Others just happen. A keloid is not dangerous, but some people don’t like how they look.
How much do you tip a piercer?
How Much Do You Tip a Piercer? – So, the main thing you want to focus on when it comes to the tipping of your piercer is to look at the overall cost of the service. Tips should always be given to a piercer who gets the job done right without any excess discomfort.
Something in the region of 15 to 20% of the total cost (piercing + jewelry) should be enough. If you feel like they did an extra special job, then you might want to up this to a 25 to 30% tip. For example, getting a lobe pierced might cost $20, plus $10 for jewelry.
A 15% tip = $4. 50. That still might not be very much. However, those small tips can add up for the piercer. Service providers rely on tipping to turn their poor wages into a living wage. A piercer needs tips to make their job something that is affordable to do for a living.
Why are piercings so expensive?
The prices are what they are. – Getting a piercing from a respectable, professional shop means shelling out some dough. Piercing shops charge what they do because doing something right isn’t cheap. Not only are they piercing you with sterilized equipment and using medical grade jewelry made of the right metals, but they are also doing it in a safe and clean environment with professionals trained in this field.
All of these things cost money. They are not trying to rip you off. Sometimes, people assume that piercing shops are overcharging, so they head to places with lower prices. These places can actually put you at risk for getting an infection or a misaligned piercing because they may use lower-quality jewelry, not know how to properly pierce, and/or not have sterilized equipment.
Beane explains that an earlobe piercing couldn’t be less than $40 to $45 if done at a right place, so keep that in mind.
What is the Medusa piercing?
What is a medusa piercing? A medusa or philtrum piercing positions a stud in the center groove above the cupid’s-bow of the lip. A piercer usually fits the piercing with a long labret stud. Once the piercing heals, a person can exchange the stud for a shorter stud to avoid causing damage to their teeth and gums.
Should you pierce cartilage with a gun?
How should ear cartilage be pierced? – ‘Cartilage should always be pierced with a needle. A piercing gun isn’t designed for cartilage, only soft tissue and even then I wouldn’t recommend it. Piercing cartilage with a gun can create hardcore hypertrophic scarring and even blow it up.
‘People have this stigma about needles but they’re actually way less painful because they’re designed to pierce skin, whereas a gun just delivers blunt force to push an earring through. ‘ This content is imported from Instagram.

Can you pierce cartilage at home?
About This Article – Article Summary X Piercing your own cartilage at home can save you time and money, but it can also be pretty painful, and you’ll need to make sure you’re using sterilized equipment so you don’t get an infection. Make sure to buy sterilized, sealed piercing needles and a gauge that’s smaller than the hollow piercing needle.
The best way to sterilize your equipment is using an autoclave or pressure cooker, but you can also soak everything in alcohol or diluted bleach to disinfect it. When you’re ready to start, clean your ear with antibacterial soap or take a shower with hot, steamy water.
Mark the site for your piercing with an indelible marker or pen, then apply a topic antiseptic, like iodine, to your ear. Put a stopper, like a sterile cotton ball, behind your ear so the needle won’t poke your scalp. Then, push the needle through your ear with the sterilized jewelry in the back of the hollow needle.
Does Claire’s use a piercing gun for cartilage?
I’m thinking of getting an ear piercing at the top of my ear (cartilage?) at Claires Accessories. I had the bottom of my ears done at Claire’s and they were great, and the aftercare was good as well. Just had a few questions about it first: 1. Does anyone know how much Claire’s charge for top of the ear piercings? (i. In your opinion, which ear (left or right) looks better with a cartilage piercing? I checked out the Claires webpage for this info before posting here, but couldnt find the relevant information! Any help will be really appreciated! Thanks guys! A [/COLOR] Your font colour is really hard to read. If your worried get it done somewhere else, there are loads of places that do it but its highly unlikely your ear will go like that tho. (Original post by Anon-a-mouse ) eeeewww! thats all i cam say to that! but if claires have pierced ’80 million ears’ and i would say a good section of those were cartilage piercings. wouldnt they have worked out not to use a gun???? They don’t care about problems afterwards though, as by then they’ve got your money. And they pierce immature people who don’t know any better. Guns are not supposed to be used for cartilage piercings. They’re better for lobe piercings, but even then cause a lot of trauma.
If it ever heals, it will take a long, long time. And they can’t be sterilised properly, so you risk getting anything that other people who have been pierced have. Including nice diseases like hepatitis. Check out BME Just to add another side of a story, i have my cartilage pierced twice at the top – once by claires and once by a hairdressers.
(One done at claires was actually a mate practicing, it was the first time she’d done a cartilage piercing!) I’ve never had any problems with either, but i do think if i had it done again i’d probably go for a needle just to be safe. Everyone I know would say never get your ears done there.
It’s free for a reason. It does hurt more than your lobes, i couldn’t sleep on mine for aaaages. I asked around places near me and ended up getting it with a needle for £15- much cheaper than claire’s and probably a it safer.
ive had mine done by a piercing gun – but i didnt go to claires, got it done at a jewellers shop! Only cost me 3 quid and it didnt get infected or anything! I’ve had all my ear piercings done at Claires apart from the first set! But this was all back in the day where they let you petend you were 16 when it was obvious you were like 12! I have friends who had their cartilage done there with the gun and it shattered it and it swelled up and left a big bump at the back, however had kine done there and it was fine, just lucky I guess! I would personally go for the needle not the gun just to avoid any risk! Oh and I thought it hurt less, maybe I’m just random and have strange ears! Don’t go to Claire’s! It won’t be that much cheaper than a real piercing place – I paid 15 for mine at a piercing studio.
Mine hurt slightly more than a lobe piercing but nothing too painful. And I don’t think it really matters whether you have the left of right one done. Mine’s in my left ear. I would never go to Claire’s for a piercing.
Actually, none of my friends would either. Basically, when they use a gun, it shatters your cartilege. If you were to put a sheet of paper behind your ear while it was pierced, you’d see a huge spray of bits of your ear left on it. Its not only dangerous to your ear, but to the piercer too! Im certainly not immature and i got my ears done at claires and had no problem.
Ppl will prob go ahead and slate me but it was my choice. also though i do want to add that i would NEVER get cartilidge pierced with a gun. surely its way to hard for that. It would shatter, shocked they offer it with gun really I used to work for Claire’s! and was an ear piercer.
This is an exaggeration, that your ear will get infected! Have had loads of customers come back for their 6-12 week check-up after getting a cartilage piercing, and they were all fine. No problems at all. It is up to you, don’t let people opinions get to you, it’s your decision.
- Claire’s wouldn’t be given an ear-piercing license if they were not allowed to pierce cartilages with guns;
- I can see where some of you are coming from, as body-piercers use needles it’s safer;
- But in the time I’ve worked for Claire’s (2 years) have had NO complaints at all about any piercing;
I got my cartilage pierced with a gun too btw, and it’s fine! no problems. To answer your questions. 1) A plain white gold or gold stud would be £12. 50 2) IMO it didn’t feel any different 3) It doesn’t matter what ear it’s on, it will look the same lol but mine’s on left i had my 2 sets of lobes, & my cartilage pierced at Claires. i’ve not had any problem with any of them. & no, i wasn’t a little kid who didn’t know better when i got mine done – first lobes at 17, cartilage at 18, & 2nd lobes at 19! really, i haven’t heard of anyone who’s had an problems with piercings from Claires.
What piercing hurts the most?
Why do cartilage piercings hurt after 2 years?
A piercing is an open wound that requires time and care to heal. Cartilage piercings typically take longer to heal and are more prone to infection than earlobe piercings. Even when a person follows the aftercare instructions, infections may still occur. An infected ear piercing can also develop years after a person got the original piercing.
Usually, the infections are minor, and people can treat them at home without complications. Touching the piercing too often with dirty hands or not cleaning the area can lead to infections. Also, earrings that are too tight may not allow the wound to breathe and heal.
In this article, learn about the symptoms of an infected ear piercing, as well as the treatment options, and how to prevent infections in the future.
Can you sleep on a cartilage piercing?
Can You Sleep With Ear Cartilage Piercing? Just like with regular ear piercings, you can sleep with an ear cartilage piercing. Particularly, a lot of people get their helix pierced and are concerned about whether they can sleep with it or not. The answer is yes.
Should cartilage be pierced with a gun?
‘Needle-piercing is significantly healthier and safer than piercing with guns, and piercing guns are not designed to pierce through cartilage,’ Lisa Bubbers, the co-founder and CMO at Studs, a New York-based piercing studio, tells Bustle.

Is cartilage piercing safe?
How to take care of the pierced ear cartilage – Ear piercing is a relatively risk-free procedure if performed at the ear lobe and along the helix region. The risk of complications of piercing through the cartilage is greater because healing takes a longer time as compared to the ear lobe. Here are a few steps that you should follow to take care of your pierced cartilage:
- Clean the pierced area twice a day either with soap and warm water, rubbing alcohol , or with any cleanser recommended by your piercer. This should be done at least for 3 months.
- Give a saline bath to your ear once a day. Pour a bottle of store-bought saline water into a bowl. Dip the pierced area in it for 2-5 minutes a day.
- Avoid touching your ear piercing. The germs in your hand can get transferred and cause infection.
- Wash your hands every time before you touch or clean the area.
- Avoid indulging yourself in swimming pools or water parks.
- Do not remove the jewelry at night. Keep it in place. Avoid removing your jewelry until your piercer gives a nod.
It is normal for the skin around the piercing to swell, turn red, and be painful to touch for a few days. You may also notice a little bleeding. If the swelling, redness, and bleeding last longer than 2-3 days, contact your doctor. You should keep inspecting the pierced area for at least 3 months. See your doctor if you think that it is infected. The signs of infection include:
- Fever
- Chills
- Swelling and tenderness around the pierced site
- Red streaks over the pierced site
- Pain that worsens over time
What does it feel like to get your cartilage pierced?
How painful is an ear piercing? – Probably the most asked question before putting that dreaded needle through your ear is, “how much is this going to hurt?” Well, this all depends on your pain sensitivity level, because what you and your BFF consider painful could vary significantly, so there’s no real guidebook but, if you want to minimise pain, there are certain piercing types you might want to avoid.
While you shouldn’t feel more than a pinch when the needle goes through your ear with lobe piercings, cartilage piercings are known to be quite painful, initially feeling a sharp shock before experiencing a duller throbbing pain.
Take note though that most people consider piercing needles to be less painful than piercing guns, and they’re a lot safer too. Huh, the more you know. Parent Trap piercings, anyone? Some of the best ways to get through the pain are to simply advert your eyes away from the piercer (you know, pretend it’s not happening), by chatting to a friend and holding their hand, or if you’re alone listen to music in the non-piercing ear to distract you and before you know it, bam, you’ll have a brand new piercing!.
